DVD Releases!

Hey guys! It's Tuesday, so it's time for some DVD releases. This week is actually a strong one, so I'll start with my pick of the week and work from there! And for everyone that doesn't know how I normally do these, you can go back to the old blog and see my system at work there.

A Prophet - This film was thought to be in a two film race with The White Ribbon last year for best foreign film, until The Secrets in Their Eyes randomly took home the Oscar. Nevertheless, this film received rave reviews, with some critics even comparing it to The Godfather. I have yet to see this film, but I look forward to the opportunity.
Rating: 4 out of 5

Diary of a Wimpy Kid - While I heard this film was very successful for what it was, it just had no appeal to me at all. From what I hear, it is a very entertaining family film, so if that's what you're looking for, I reccomend checking this one out.
Rating: 2 out of 5

The Ghost Writer - This is a film I enjoyed quite a bit, as it appeared at #6 on my mid year top ten list. It's far from perfect, but it serves as an entertaning, tongue-in-cheek thriller. I am anxious to watch this film again, and I reccomend it to everyone who hasn't seen it yet.
Rating: 4 out of 5

Kick-Ass - This is a film I did not get a chance to see yet, which is a shame since I read the graphic novel and enjoyed it. I heard it was a decent action movie, and I am looking forward to watching it.
Rating: 4 out of 5

To Save a Life - I've heard this is a better film on the religion-based spectrum, which is normally not saying much. I am interested, and I would be open to watching it, I just probably won't seek out an opportunity to go see it.
Rating: 2 out of 5

So what do you plan on renting this week?

  1. "The Ghost Writer" was a very entertaining film that I would enjoy seeing again. I also haven't had a chance to see "Kick-Ass" but it looks pretty good so those would be my top 2 picks this week.

  2. I saw Kick-Ass earlier today. It was entertaining and there were some awesome moments, but overall, I enjoyed it less than the graphic novel, which I thought was average in the first place.
