A couple days ago, Cracked.com writer Dan Seitz published an article titled "5 Annoying Trends That Make Every Movie Look The Same." The article is really funny and pretty informative. So go check it out if you are interested and let us know what you think.
Very interesting stuff. I like the stuff on the color schemes for the genre, and especially the orange and teal thing, I've seen that but never really noticed it.
ReplyDeleteTechniques 2 and 3 can be really neat if used well. I actually tend to be a sucker for #2 because I do think it adds a sense of realism to movies, however, I do feel as if it is wrongly used in many films.
I've also heard much about the up-convert process to 3D. That's why you always check to see if a film was actually shot in 3D before you shell out the $15 for the tickets.
Personally I think 3D is overused. I liked it in Avatar because it was done very well but honestly I don't need to see 80% of my movies in 3D.
ReplyDeleteThe color schemes for mood is good but overused as well. I like how this article emphasizes that these techniques and elements can be good in moderation, but also that they are ridiculous when used in every single movie.
